Ignore The Batman on Draw Something

So apparently drawing pictures of Hitler was a pretty big hit, so I continued to do it for a bit.

floss
Thing is, Ignore Hitler is someone else's meme. I want do stuff that's original. So I've been looking for irrelevant things to put in my drawings.

Anchor
Mexico

Seagull

Thug (that's supposed to be Napoleon Dynamite)

Grass

Most of the different items just didn't have the same punch as "Ignore Hitler."

But there has been one that has been almost as fun to draw: Ignore Batman

Catwoman

Dinosaur

Peacock

Snorkel

Tolkien

I still play Draw Something, but I have so many games going these days that I probably won't get back to your pictures for a little while. Sad, I know.

What Skyrim Has Taught Me About Myself

Ok, this is going to be a super-nerdy post, but I feel the need to talk about something has sucked my life away.

If you didn't know, Skyrim is like, the coolest game ever. It's a little too cool, in fact. It's really addicting, and it's been sucking my life away. I'm normally not a huge gamer. Here are some things I've discovered as I played the game.

Discovery #1: People depend on me waaay more than they should.

Discovery #2: I get distracted really easily.

Discovery #3: I get a kick out of doing things in a videogame that I would never do in real life.

Discovery #4: You should never take directions from me.

If you frequent the blog, you probably already know this. But I have found that when getting from point A to point B, like so:

The suggested path might look like this:

But I will always take a path that looks something like this:

That is my feeble attempt at using a shortcut by trying to go in a straight line from A to B--even though a giant mountain is in the way. And then I get distracted by funny looking buildings along the way, and then I might get stopped by a guy who wants me to save their dog, and then I might get jumped by some bandits, and then I might kill a bunch of deer just for fun, and then I might get eaten by a dragon and have to start the whole journey over. . . It's kind of like playing The Oregon Trail, actually.

Discovery # 5: I find amusement in slaughtering everyone when I run out of things to do.

I'm not going to draw a picture of this one, but once I've completed all the main quests and all the side quests, and even most of the minor quests that no one likes, I'm left with a character that has god-like killing abilities--and no bad guys to kill. What other choice do I have other than to storm through the main city and mindlessly kill everyone there?

Like I said, I do things in videogames I wouldn't do in real life.

Christmas Break

This post talks about what I've done on my Christmas break. It's the product of boredom and is pretty scatterbrained. I know I've been really bad at updating the blog as of late, so we'll see if I can get things going better in 2012.

Because Salt Lake International Airport is between my parents' house and my apartment, this is how my vacation weekends can sometimes feel:

Thanks to Hyperbole and a Half for the image.

When I come home after for the holidays, my first thought is usually this:

And then I go to the home computer and find that the only web browser installed is Internet Explorer, and I think in my head "what year is it?"

The only computer game installed on the computer at home is Age of Mythology. Man, I forgot how much fun that game was. My favorite moment is when you finally crack your opponent's military and take down their settlement. The battle is over but you still have to destroy the town to win. You see about twenty little villagers pour out of the town center and start running for their lives in every direction. Perhaps they have some small hope that if they can escape; then maybe - just maybe - they might be able to start over. Build a refugee camp. Live a quiet life for a while. Then train their kids to be soldiers and avenge their fathers' deaths in a violent final battle that will take place ten minutes later.

But I am not going to allow that to happen.

At least, that's how I envision it in my mind. In reality, it's probably more like this:

People who've played an Age of Empires game before will understand.

While we're on the topic of video games, we went to my aunt's house for our extended family Christmas party. While there, my aunt broke out one of their Christmas presents, Dance Central 2, and challenged my little brother and me to a dance off.  Keep in mind that my aunt is relatively young and teaches dance.

We did a dance off to Lady Gaga's Bad Romance. You can see the choreography below:

I pretty much rocked it (I'm pretty good at doing the Fierce Kitten), which was probably a little disturbing to the rest of the family. But hey, that's how I roll. My aunt best be bringin' her A-game the next time we meet.

Other than that, I've done pretty much nothing all Christmas break, and it was everything I could have hoped it to be.

Sometimes I Feel Like One of those Guys that Spins Plates on Sticks

And when I have too many plates on sticks to spin, the first thing that I'm going to drop is the blog.  Sorry to those that have been waiting for a new post! I'm usually working on two to three different blog posts at a time, and they take a surprising amount of time (who would've thunk that MS paint would ever be time consuming?).  Rest assured, a new post is coming soon.  Here's a quick list of what's been occupying my time:

1. An upcoming test in Bus M 301: Finance for Business majors.  Last week I realized that I have no idea what things like 'free cash flow to the firm' or 'the DuPont equation' mean, and that the test is coming up this Wednesday.

2. An upcoming test in M Comm 320:  Business Communications.  This is causing a lot of stress once I realized my public school English education has done very little for me in the grammar department.  I was doing a 65 question practice test this weekend and came across question after question like this:
  • Which of the following best applies sentence-subject guidelines?
    • A. Many people believe that it's not what you know, but who you know that counts.
    • B. It's going to be cloudy and rainy this weekend, so bring an umbrella.
    • C. There will be a shortage of seating, so we won't be able to invite extra guests to the performance.
    • D. The bus will drop us off before the game in Lot C, but it will pick us up after the game in Lot  D.
Don't ask me which one is right, because I've only narrowed it down to two.  By the way, since this class started, I have learned that I have been making all sorts of grammatical errors on here.  Please don't judge me.

3. I was just barely called to be the secretary in my Elders' Quorum.  It'll be fun, but a bit time consuming.  I need to learn the names of everyone in the quorum and take attendance every week.  This is complicated because I have only been going to my current student ward for three weeks now.

4. My roommate got Halo: Reach for the Xbox 360.  Saving the planet from the threat of an alien invasion takes precedence over blogging.

5. My roommate got an Xbox Kinect.  Looking like a spaz and having Microsoft record it on a camera takes precedence over blogging. . . . I think. . . .

So yeah, I think three out of my five reasons are pretty good.

P.S.  FYI, it's the worst day of the year today.  It was scientifically proven by a British scientist.  Read about it here.  My favorite part of the article is were we learn about the formula used to determine the worst day of the year:

"The model is: [W + (D-d)] x TQ
                             M x NA
The equation is broken down into seven variables: (W) weather, (D) debt, (d) monthly salary, (T) time since Christmas, (Q) time since failed quit attempt, (M) low motivational levels and (NA) the need to take action."

I'm pretty sure most of those variables are bogus, but whatever.  It's written down and published on MSNBC.com, so it must be true.

Coincidentally, today is my 22nd birthday.  Happy worst day of the year to MEEE!
While the rest of y'all are being depressed over the weather, the lack of holidays, and your need to take action, I'll be celebrating by killing alien hordes and pretending to dance on the Kinect.  Suck on that!
