Taco Bell Makes Slutty Sauce

Also, it is really cold in Provo right now. How cold is it? Well....

It actually looks a little worse now. The ice is solid enough to support multiple people's body weights. I'm sure I just committed some sort of syntax sin with that last sentence. Whatevs.

Use the Stairs

As someone who lives on the fifth floor, I felt like this needed to be said.

Fun Pictures of Stuff

My life has been crazy busy as of late. I picked up a second job and my marketing group got a bit behind in a couple of our projects, but I think I'm finally catching up. I just wanted to quickly share some fun pictures of various things I've found or come across lately.

The first picture comes from an article written by the Student Review, the independent newspaper here in Provo that deals with hard-hitting topics that BYU's Daily Universe would never touch, like Jon McNaughton, or the how the BYU campus is ranked hottest in the nation. It's really about as rebellious as the guys who wear colored shirts to Sacrament meeting.

But before we get to that, I have to tell a story: one of my friends is in possession of a megaphone. Don't ask me why, just go with it.  Anyway, I was hanging out with this friend and several others at an Alpine Village apartment when someone thought it would be fun to shout things at people in the parking lot outside using the megaphone.

Someone heard us and submitted this fine quote to "Overheard at BYU," which ended up in the Student Review.

By the way, the guy did not get out of his car to walk the girl to the door. In response to this, my friend said "Girl, you totally need to dump him!" It was loud enough for the entire complex to hear.

Second, I had a photo that is neither fun nor interesting. I submitted a letter the the official campus paper, The Daily Universe, to tell the editor that I did not agree with their recent article on pawn shops and stolen property and so on. . . I'll probably tell that story some other time.

I just wanted to post this on here to show one of my biggest pet peeves:

How on earth did they misspell "Low" when I signed my own letter "-Jacob Low; Farmington, UT." It's really not that hard to spell.

Next up is a Valentine my little brother, Clint, made. He is 10 years old.

"you keep me together"

"That was corny!"

This picture has been on the BYU mainpage for a while. Is it bad that every time I see this picture. . .

. . . I immediately think of this one:
Image from Buzzfeed

I am a member of BYU's Marketing Association. They recently had a photo contest. The challenge was to wear your BYUMA somewhere cool and creative over the Christmas break and take a photo of it. Whoever got the most likes on Facebook won. I didn't go anywhere cool or creative over the break, so I created this image:

Look at the detailing on that hoodie! Look at it!

I thought the location was pretty cool and creative, but I lost to a guy who put his hoodie on his baby boy and got about 400 Facebook likes. That adorable little jerk.

Finally, I wanted to put a plug in for the newest exhibit at BYU's Museum Of Art, Beauty and Belief. It contains the largest traveling collection of Islamic art ever assembled in the U.S.. The exhibit is absolutely breathtaking, and I'd encourage you to go see it. Below is one of the pieces at the exhibit, from two different angles:

Drinking Milk--The Xtreme Way

One night at ten o' clock, I was walking past the girls building at my apartment complex.  As I walked by, I saw two of my friends--a guy and a girl--chatting with each other on the fourth floor.

"J-Low!" they yelled down at me (as that is what I am known as around here).

"Hello!" I yelled up.

The guy shouted, "would you like some milk?"And the girl giggled a little bit.

I said "sure!"

The guy then pulled out a giant, five-gallon plastic bag filled with milk.  It had a little faucet on the end for easy pouring. Apparently, his workplace just gave it to him.

"Try to catch it in your mouth!"  he yelled down.

Normally, I do not do well with catching food in my mouth.  Actually, scratch that--I never do well with catching food in my mouth.  There was this one time when the chef at a Japanese Hibachi grill was throwing shrimp in everyone's mouths with his spatula.  He tried to toss one in my mouth four times before he gave up and moved on to the onion volcano.  I can't remember if I've ever even caught so much as Skittle in my mouth.  But that night I decided to completely disregard history and go through this thought process:

One thing my friend neglected to mention was that the reason his work gave him the giant five gallon bag was because it had hit its expiration date.  Three days ago.

It tasted kind of funny.

Oh hey, I got at least two cool points!

The Update

I'm in a new apartment this semester.  It's known as one of the four 'penthouses' here at my apartment complex.  Normally, you have to pay an extra 20-50 dollars (can't remember the exact amount) to live there, but thanks to a special deal I got, it still costs the same for me.  Win.

Why does it cost extra?  Here's the reasoning:
  • The ceilings are a couple feet higher
  • We have stainless steel appliances
  • The TV is a bit nicer
  • There are cabinets above the washer and dryer
  • We have a DVR
Honestly, I don't think it's worth the extra price.  Here's why:
  • Stainless steel appliances in the kitchen don't mean much to me since I do all my cooking with a microwave.  I believe it cooks the same either way.  Although it would be cool if there was a difference....
  • "Look at what the stainless steel microwave did to my Hot Pocket!"
  • The TV in the last apartment was nicer than any TV I ever had at home, so I was content with that.
  • I always kept my laundry detergent on top of the dryer in the last apartment.  Cabinets are unnecessary.
  • I watch all my TV on Hulu and Netflix, so DVR is also unnecessary.
  • Ten foot ceilings are high enough for me.  It's not like I'm an 11 and 1/2 foot freak.
"Oh, how I wish my ceiling was higher..."

In related news, I found something interesting the first time I walked into my apartment's bathroom.

That's a life-size dinosaur head, and it's at eye-level with you when you're sitting on the john.  One of my roommates is a film major, and he had to construct this head for a film project.  It's disturbingly lifelike with its eyes and textured tongue and stuff.  It sort of creeped me out the first time I wanted to use the bathroom here.

In other news, I'm now back in school.  It's been a full 30 months since I was a full time student.  Here's something I don't get:

Full-Time Missionary
  • Biggest Stressor: The eternal salvation of everyone I come into contact with!
  • My Approximate Stress Level:  Maybe a six.
 Full-Time Student
  • Biggest Stressor:  Currently a quiz worth ten points towards my final grade.
  • My Approximate Stress Level:  20
Can anyone explain that one to me?

Final item: Maxibus the Man Van died this last Sunday.  I knew it would have a short life-expectancy! Fortunately, I have very loving parents who care that I have a vehicle.  They provided the funds for a new fuel pump that should add some extra mileage to Maxibus.
